How this calculator works
The years/months/days breakdown counts calendar units the way you'd say them out loud — "2 years, 3 months, 10 days" — while the totals below convert the same span into flat days, weeks and months for when you need a single number instead.
Why this is trickier than just subtracting dates
Calendar months don't all have the same length, so "3 months" means a different number of actual days depending on which months are included — March to June is 3 months spanning 92 days, while February to May in a leap year spans 90. This calculator works from real calendar dates rather than a fixed average like "30 days per month," so the breakdown stays accurate regardless of which specific months and years are involved.
Business days
The business-days count includes Monday through Friday only and excludes weekends, but it doesn't know about public holidays, since those vary by country, region, and even by employer. Subtract any known holidays manually from the count if you need an exact working-day total for payroll or deadline purposes.
